Engaging in community volunteer work can be very satisfying. That is our goal: to make your volunteer experience fulfilling and meaningful.
We have opportunities for those who want to support clients directly and other work that can support our agency operations. Service through our helpline and outreach programs are excellent ways to assist victims on their paths to freedom and safety. Administrative support is welcome too, and includes assistance with events hosted by the agency throughout the year.
All volunteers are asked to make a year commitment and are required to participate in our 4-day intensive training. The training will introduce you to our agency’s philosophy, an orientation about our programs and a state of the art analysis of violence against women and children.
We have a Volunteer Coordinator and many students from island colleges and universities choose the Domestic Violence Action Center as their practicum placement site. Ongoing supervision, invitations to agency events and a mahalo celebration are part of our volunteer program.
