HONOLULU (KHON2) — John Keanuenue Nihipali Sr. is serving 25 years at Oahu Community Correctional Center for attempted manslaughter and assault against the same woman in the Kapolei attack.
She testified in his trial in 2004. Thursday’s attacks come one week after a shooting killed one woman and injured a teen in Kapolei, also linked to domestic violence.
Experts want the public to know that resources are available to help.
“We have our helpline, that’s one of the main entry points. To someone accessing advocacy, legal support group service or connection to other support services, they’re confidential.” Ella Mojica, Domestic Violence Action Center Deputy Director
Meanwhile, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation announced that the work furlough program could be suspended up to 30 days, if necessary, as it conducts a review of the program’s policies and procedures.
