Isolated in violent relationships and in fear of deportation, many immigrant victims do not avail themselves of the law enforcement system, courts, healthcare, and social service system. Immigrant battered women receive responsive advocacy and assistance rooted in their language and culture. Interpreters, community support and safety are delicately attended to so as to increase the likelihood of safety.
Domestic Violence Action Center staff have been doing powerful work in this community, impacting lives, educating the community, and effecting change in institutions so future generations can have a better chance to live free from abuse and domestic terror.
The Immigrant Services Program has built a network of organizations such as Na Loio Immigrant Rights and Public Interest Legal Center, service providers, and advocates to improve services to less visible battered immigrant women. Immigrant women who are in need of services are offered legal and advocacy/case management services and victim assistance.
